The TNOS Nutrition Methodology: Fueling the System, Optimizing the Result
At We Train Miami LLC, we understand that the body is a single, integrated system. The Triphasic Neural Mechanical Optimization System (TNOS) is not just a training protocol; it is a holistic philosophy of human performance. Our approach to nutrition is the essential fuel and building material for this system. We move beyond outdated calorie-counting and generic meal plans to a strategic, data-driven, and habit-based methodology that aligns with your specific physiological goals.
Our Core Philosophy: Nutrition as Strategic Input
We view food not as the enemy, but as the most powerful tool we have to:
- Signal the body to build muscle or burn fat.
- Reduce systemic inflammation that causes pain and hinders recovery.
- Fuel performance in all three Triphasic phases (Eccentric, Isometric, Concentric).
- Rewire the nervous system by creating new, sustainable habit loops.
Goal-Specific Nutritional Protocols
1. TNOS for Fat Loss & Weight Loss: The Metabolic Re-composition Protocol
- Objective: Shed body fat while preserving precious metabolically active muscle tissue.
- Dietary Strategy:High-Protein, Moderate-Fat, Phased Carbohydrate Intake.
- Protein: Kept high (1.6-2.2g per kg of body weight) to preserve muscle, promote satiety, and increase the thermic effect of feeding (TEF).
- Carbohydrates: Strategically timed. Higher intakes around training sessions to fuel performance and replenish glycogen; lower intakes on non-training days to encourage fat adaptation.
- Fats: Maintained at a moderate level to support hormone production (like testosterone) and overall health.
- Key Differentiator: We do NOT advocate for drastic, unsustainable calorie cuts. We create a moderate deficit that prioritizes nutrient density, allowing for consistent energy and performance in the gym, which is crucial for sending the “keep this muscle” signal to your body.
2. TNOS for Muscle Gain: The Anabolic Growth Protocol
- Objective: Add lean, functional muscle mass with minimal fat gain.
- Dietary Strategy:High-Protein, High-Energy Availability, Constant Nutrient Delivery.
- Protein: High (1.8-2.5g per kg of body weight) to provide the raw building blocks for muscle protein synthesis (MPS).
- Calories: A controlled surplus of 300-500 calories above maintenance.
- Carbohydrates: Consistently high to fuel intense Triphasic training sessions and replenish muscle glycogen, creating an anabolic environment.
- Meal Timing: Emphasis on spreading protein intake evenly throughout the day (every 3-4 hours) to keep MPS elevated constantly.
3. TNOS for Weight Gain (for Underweight/High-Performance Athletes): The Hyper-Nourishment Protocol
- Objective: Increase total body mass for performance or health.
- Dietary Strategy:Calorically Dense, Nutrient-Rich, Easy-to-Consume Foods.
- Focus on energy-dense foods like nuts, seeds, nut butters, olive oil, and complex carbohydrates like oats and sweet potatoes.
- May utilize liquid calories (e.g., specialized shakes) for those who struggle with a large volume of food.
- Still prioritizes protein and whole foods to ensure the mass gained is quality mass, not just fat.
Tracking, Measurement & The Habit Reset
What We Track & Measure:
- Primary Tools:
- Cronometer or MyFitnessPal: For initial food logging to establish baselines and educate.
- Weekly Progress Photos & Circumference Measurements: Visual and metric-based tracking that is more meaningful than the scale alone.
- InBody/DEXA Scans: For advanced clients to get precise data on muscle vs. fat changes.
- Performance Metrics: Strength, endurance, and recovery are the ultimate indicators that our nutrition is working.
- Our Philosophy on Tracking: We use tracking as a diagnostic and educational tool, not a life sentence. The goal is to build an intuitive understanding of food that eventually makes obsessive logging unnecessary.
The Habit Replacement System:
We use a structured, neurological approach to replace bad habits with good ones, based on the principle of “Cue, Craving, Response, Reward.”
- Example: Replacing an afternoon sugary snack.
- Cue: 3 PM energy slump.
- Craving: Desire for a quick energy boost.
- Old Response: Eat a candy bar.
- New TNOS Response: Eat an apple with a tablespoon of almond butter.
- Reward: Stable energy, feeling of satisfaction, and positive reinforcement from your coach.
We work with clients to identify their specific habit loops and engineer healthier responses that provide a similar or better reward.
Medical Conditions & Eating Disorders: Our Informed, Compassionate Approach
Our methodology is adaptable and safe for clients with various medical conditions. We always work in conjunction with the client’s healthcare team.
1. Type 2 Diabetes & Insulin Resistance:
- Our Approach: The TNOS Metabolic Reset Protocol. We use a low-glycemic, high-protein, high-fiber diet paired with the muscle-building effects of Triphasic training to dramatically improve insulin sensitivity. We use Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) where available to show clients in real-time how food and exercise affect their blood sugar.
2. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure):
- Our Approach: We adopt a DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension)-inspired framework, emphasizing potassium, magnesium, and calcium-rich foods while reducing processed sodium. We focus on whole foods and the anti-inflammatory benefits of our standard protocols.
3. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS):
- Our Approach: We focus on managing insulin resistance, which is a core driver of PCOS. Our strategies are similar to the diabetic protocol, with an added emphasis on anti-inflammatory fats (like omega-3s) to help regulate hormones.
4. Eating Disorders (e.g., Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder):
- Our Approach: EXTREME CAUTION AND COMPASSION.
- Policy: We are not licensed therapists or registered dietitians specializing in eating disorders. Our primary role is to identify and refer.
- Action Plan:
- Identification: We watch for signs like extreme body dysmorphia, obsessive food behaviors, fear of certain food groups, and compulsive exercise.
- Communication: We will privately and compassionately express our concerns to the client, focusing on their health and well-being.
- Referral: We will pause all diet-focused coaching and require the client to work with a qualified therapist and/or registered dietitian specializing in eating disorders.
- Supportive Role: Once the client has professional support, we can provide a supportive, structured exercise environment focused on health and performance as directed by their healthcare team, not weight loss or physique. We will never prescribe a restrictive diet to a client with a known or suspected eating disorder.
By integrating nutrition seamlessly with the TNOS training system, we provide a complete solution for transformation, one that is as intelligent and individualized as the movement it supports. Anti-Inflammation Book(Currently Out Now) and Miami Body Meals (Meal Prep Company) Fresh Meals Daily
